What is Love -Part 1

Christian love is the ultimate topic to talk about.  Lets continue.

Lets look at Mark 12:28b to 31.

Mark 12:28b-31  “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Matthew added this in verse 22:40   “On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

I am going to first discuss each sentence differently in different essays.  I am only going to cover the surface.  A person who meditates on Gods love will have an incredible experience that will take what I say and take it to a deeper level or cover another dimension on love that I am not cover.

Lets discuss this.

The first line is “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God , the Lord is one.”  What does this have to do with love.  Lets look at what is said.

Fact 1:  God is the same now as before man was created.

Fact 2:  The love God shows is not passive but active.

Fact 3:  The active love that God showed before man was a circle of love between the difference persons of the triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Fact 4:  When God created Adam and Eve they were going to be part of the circle of love by the Trinity.

Fact 5:  When Adam and Eve sinned, they fell out of favor with God.  They were no longer invited to be part of the circle of love.

Fact 6:  When Jesus died on the cross, part of the results is that we were invited back into that circle of love.

This is very important.  This was a particular hard subject to write about.  To paraphrase someone else that I heard years ago: If you don’t believe in the Trinity you can lose your salvation.  If you try to explain the Trinity you can lose your mind.  It is one of the mysteries of God.  It is three persons all acting as one God.

I may be stretching the parallels, but God wants us to be together as one.  He did not say we can’t disagree.  The strength of our beliefs is that even with separate stances in our beliefs, we can still love one another and work together.   No matter how the day went, when the day is done we should be loving each other as family.  It is hard to do but God gave us his Spirit to help maintaining that love and unity to each other.

I am repeating what I said in a previous post and I’ll repeat it in further posts.  I do not regard what I say is the final word.  My purpose of this series of posts is to give some thoughts to think about and come before God.  Coming before God will strengthen your relationship with Him.  What can be more important than that.
